Azzi Glasser: Art of Scent at Harvey Nichols

Award winning perfume designer, Azzi Glasser hosts The Art of Scent at Harvey Nichols, Manchester this week; an exploratory evening dedicated to finding your favourite fragrance.

“PERFUME IS LIKE A LOVE AFFAIR, YOU EXPLORE, TRY, BUT WHEN YOU FIND THE RIGHT ONE YOU BECOME UTTERLY LOYAL.” AZZI GLASSER.

Harvey Nichols delves into The Art of Scent – exploring how fragrance defines us as individuals, its emotive and evocative qualities and ability to transform and empower, with a dedicated beauty event at the Manchester store on Thursday 29 October. With exclusive launches, interactive beauty activity, tutorials, talks and workshops, you will have the chance to meet master perfumers to uncover your signature scent or customise your favourite fragrance. Plus you get to enjoy complimentary drinks and live music.

Azzi Glasser will be in store introducing her first collection of 11 limited edition men’s, women’s and unisex perfumes from her unreleased back catalogue. Under the moniker, The Perfumer’s Story, this is the first time that these scents have been available at retail and it’s an exclusive to Harvey Nichols until 31 December.

With an extensive and unrivalled client list, Glasser’s bespoke perfumes are created for the world’s top fashion designers, beauty brands, musicians and actors including Helena Bonham Carter, Jude Law, Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp, Alexander McQueen, Nicole Farhi Parfums and Jasper Conran Men and Women. Azzi has also collaborated with the world’s most famous galleries and artists on a global level creating bespoke fragrances for art exhibitions including ‘Build and Destroy’ at the Saatchi Gallery, ‘Daydreaming With James Lavelle…’ at London’s Haunch of Venison Gallery, Philippe Parreno for the Palais de Tokyo and Kylie Minogue for the V+A Museum.

Her interest and passion for all that is fragrant began in India where she discovered, through exotic flavours and colours, the power of layering scents. She had an intrinsic early awareness that fragrances have the power to evoke emotions, and can be associated with a place or person to awaken memories and feelings.

A limited number of advanced appointments are available on Thursday 29 October for one-on-one consultations with the perfume designer to help match one of the 11 crafted fragrances to your style and personality. Additionally, by appointment via Harvey Nichols Style Concierge, Azzi will also be available to create exclusive bespoke fragrances at consultations within Azzi’s fragrance studio at her private residence.

Azzi said; “My fragrance compositions are based on ‘Character and Style‘, each with an artistic story and reference. Having been fortunate to have worked over the years with so many incredible personalities that herald their unique style, I could see there was a demand for fragrances to be more individual with a real spice of originality. I wanted to create the ultimate finishing touch that would be adored by others and totally loyal to the wearer and that evoke memories for years to come.”

The Art of Scent is at Harvey Nichols, Manchester, on 29 October (6 pm until 9 pm). For further information or to purchase tickets call the Harvey Nichols Beauty department on 0161 828 8897. Tickets £10 redeemable on beauty and perfumery purchases made on the evening.
