Pursuing Happiness on Two Wheels with Electra Bikes

Pursuing Happiness on Two Wheels with Electra Bikes by Alexa Wang

Cycling is officially cool and bike culture in the UK is rocketing off the scale. So in the midst of National Bike Week, Electra Bikes shares its cycling mantra whch is all about happiness on two wheels.

Success in the Tour de France and the Olympics, more commuters, better infrastructure – the cycling landscape in Britain has evolved at an amazing rate. In our cities, cycling is at the centre of an individual and collective push to make our urban spaces more liveable . Cycling and style are very happy bedfellows; and with fashion in the saddle essential, for your actual bike to look the part is fundamental.

Electra Bikes is a brand that has both led and tracked our love affair with two wheels on its 22 year journey to create bikes inspired by art, music, fashion, the California sunshine, the ease of a perfect day and amazing people around the world. The leading lifestyle bicycle brand in the U.S. you can spot Electra bikes in feature films, fashion spreads and at traffic lights in the coolest cities around the world. With more than 200 models in their signature collections, the Southern California-based company boasts some of the most comfortable and beautiful bicycles on the market today.

For National Bike week, Electra Bikes have put together their top ten reasons why cycling is so en-pointe. Their cycling mantra if you please!

  • “If it’s sunny we’re cycling!”  It doesn’t matter if it’s the middle of August and the temperature has reached a heady 20 degrees, or if it’s mid-January and bright winter sunshine is streaming through the doom and gloom – Electra Bikes were made for sunshine.
  • “Cycling is stylish – dahling”. Art, fashion, craftsmanship and style all go into the design at Electra, and Electra riders echo this.  Whether we’re hitting the gym or cycling to a pop up silent disco we love to show our style whilst doing it.
  • “From flip flops to platforms.” Riding doesn’t have to be a sport. It’s completely acceptable to cycle to the beach in your flip flops or to a house party with your crew in platforms.  And thanks to Electra’s Flat Foot Technology, you are pretty safe doing so!
  • “Practicality is important.” When riding from A to B it is important to be practical and prepared. A trusty cup-holder strapped to your handlebars serves many a refreshing function, allowing you to enjoy a beer when you reach the park or holding your latte when you’re on the go.
  • “Cycling is a group activity.” Grab your mates, grab your bikes and let’s go! Cycling is not a solitary pursuit, but a group activity. The world is our oyster.
  • “Accessorize everything.” As Marc Jacobs once said, “Any opportunity to adorn oneself is human, and accessories are an easy way to do it,” and we totally agree. Add a little pizazz to your riding with an Electra basket, a bell or a handlebar flower.
  • “Ring my bellllllllllllllll!  Ring my bell!”  Safety matters and what better way to let fellow cyclists know we’re coming on the cycle path than with a tuneful ‘ring-a-ding-ding’.
  • “Surf’s up!”  Whether we’re in Cali or Newquay if the surf’s up we’re there!  We simply strap on our boards and cycle to the nearest break.
  • “Green is good”  One of the best things about riding has to be the positive impact on the environment, not only do you beat the traffic but you’re actively helping to reduce your carbon footprint.  Props to all environmentally conscious bikers out there.
  • “The World is our bike lane!”  From canal paths to fields, promenades to beaches, the world is our bike lane.  You Rock, Let’s Roll…
