‘November’ by artist Gerhard Richter – A Series in Ink

November is a series of ink works produced by the artist Gerhard Richter on highly absorbent paper with additions in lacquer or pencil.

If you view the series as a whole they seem almost organic in form as they evolve from one image to the next. Richter created the works by manipulating the ink in a variety of different ways.

They stand up as individual pieces and it would be great to see how they worked on a massive scale but they really shine as the series they were created to be. You can see glimpses of shapes and even figures lurking amongst the seemingly random pieces. The fifteen images we have chosen here for Flux Space are designed to show the evolving nature of the series.

Some of the works have been shown previously in the Louvre in Paris but now the complete series has been published by Heni Publishing and can be seen as a whole for the first time.

You can find out more at www.gerhard-richter.com

It will be available from the Tate Gallery Shop from March 20th shop.tate.org.uk
