‘Forgotten Olympic Sports’ by Tom Edwards for LIK + NEON
Wondering where our all new, Olympic inspired background has come from? Well, we’ve been getting ready for the Olympics at FLUX with a few toe-touches and a lot of remote flicking. And for an alternative Olympic celebration, we’d like to point you in the direction of East London’s LIK+NEON who have commissioned illustrator, Tom Edwards, to bring you the ‘Forgotten Olympic Sports’ designs.
In a limited edition of 50, Edwards brings us his lost medal winning sports all emblazoned on souvenir tea towels. From face tatooing to cat balancing, only the most skillful competitors could win out in these gut-wrenching events!
The five commissioned designs showcase the playful wit of University of Brighton graduate Edwards, whose character illustrations have earned him an impressive list of commissions, including Alma-nac Architects, Anorak Kids Magazine, Adidas and Diesel. So it’s a perfect partnership for LIK + NEON, one of Brick Lane’s original design stores, with their off-beat, original collection of t-shirts, prints, zines, magazines, and interior design items by emerging design talent.
The tea towels remembering these forgotten, historic sports events are 100% cotton, and made more special by bring numbered 1 to 50 by the artist. And alongside the tea towels, you can also get tote bags featuring 3 designs from the Forgotten Olympic Sports series in limited editions of 30.
So Go! Tom, and Go! LIK + NEON. Our money’s on the Latvian for the spare tyre blowing gold by the way.
