The latest launch from The House of Amouage is a little bit special in our opinion. It is the latest release from the renowned Library Collection that has been well received by perfume aficionados and public alike. Amouage Opus VI has been developed as a collaboration between Amouge’s Creative Director and Pierre Negrin and is inspired by the eternal powers of destruction and resurrection. A grand claim indeed but how does it stand up on the skin?

This is an opulent, dreamlike woody amber fragrance that takes you back in time but then tugs you back to the present. It’s hard to pinpoint its place – think French Palace with maybe a few added minarets. There’s a deep dark intense wood that holds the scent down to its solid bass note – hints of wet bark, tobacco and almond. There’s a sweater, brighter top note of Sichuan Pepper, Frankincense and Bay with the rich exotic punch of Patchouli and Sandalwood.

This is a strong, intense and emotive perfume with hints of precious memories both bitter and sweet. It lingers and wraps itself around the wearer, and like so many of our favourites is hard to pin down gender wise – this is up to the wearer to decide as they create their own story with the scent as backdrop.
