NOISE Festival: Breaking into the Creative Industries

It can be a bit of an obstacle course trying to navigate your way into the creative industries. Those who have already made it onto the next levels often make it look easy and newcomers often find it very hard to get good advice from these more successful creatives who are understandably very busy themselves.

This new initiative from the award-winning NOISE festival aims to bridge that gap and give a boost to people aiming to set up their own creative businesses. Hosted by some of the UK’s leading creative professionals this one day careers event will pass on their expertise to emerging creatives across a number of disciplines including games, music, fashion, publishing, design, photography and retail. The event ‘NOISE: Your Creative Future’, which has been awarded Arts Council funding, equips artists with insider knowledge to increase their employability.

One the main contributors will be Altrincham-educated, Games developer legend Ian Livingstone CBE from Eidos who will deliver the keynote speech, a very informative and entertaining account including his involvement in the creation of Games Workshop, Tomb Raider and writing the multi-million selling Fighting Fantasy gamebooks.

You will also hear from Alis Pelleschi, photographer, film-maker and designer for Meat Clothing interviewed about her unique career; Ryan Holliday Stevens, Creative Director at Aqua By Aqua, talking about his journey to become one of the UK’s most forward thinking fashion labels, and Eva Sonaike, discussing the start-up pitfalls when leading a designer lifestyle brand. WeFund, the UK based finance platform for creative projects, host a workshop on crowd-fundraising, plus other professionals from radio, publishing, design and illustration present throughout the day.

If you are looking to set up on your own creative business then this could be a good chance to listen and talk to people who have already been through it plus network with others who are starting out themselves. ‘NOISE: Your Creative Future’ gives  unique access to some of the creative industries’ leading lights via on site workshops, surgeries and Q&A sessions. Successful North West based artists signed up to the NOISE arts portfolio site join the event to talk about how their careers started, promoting yourself as an emerging talent and getting involved in cultural arts events organised by NOISE.

Denise Proctor, CEO of NOISE says, “ ‘NOISE: Your Creative Future’ will bring leading Northern names back to help demystify routes into the creative industries for emerging talent to kick-start their careers. Given the current financial climate it is vital that those with talent are given every opportunity to make the most of it.”

Any emerging talent can attend the event, whether studying, already working in the Creative Industries, or interested in turning their passion for the arts into a career. Tickets are on sale now for £30/ £25 concessions (subject to booking fee) via www.watersideartscentre.co.uk . Existing NOISE Festival Premium Portfolio members can purchase tickets from www.NOISEfestival.com for a reduced £5.
