Simon Ekrelius

by Rachael Adams

Another designer we are loving from the ON/OFF show was Swedish designer Simon Ekerelius putting the mmm... back into minimalism.
Simon says sexy, sheer and structured for S/S 2010, taking inspirations from the ultra-modern Parisian Pompidou Centre combined with Pedro Almodovar’s film “Kika”. Simon manages to master the art of sharp cuts focussed on asymmetrical angles, off centre button detailing and perfectly lined prints. His ideal wearer includes girls that have a little bit of bad in them, such as Amy Winehouse and Juliette Lewis.
Following his 5th design exhibition at LFW, Simon has received major interest for his unique prints that are created both manually and digitally. He commented that, “Prints are sometimes the strongest tool, lots of designers can do strong tailoring but the prints are just you as a designer and very hard to copy perfectly. After Paris I expect emails that will change my future.”
