Celebrating 60 years, Adidas have collaborated with Italian fashion label Stone Island this season, to rework the classic Samba sneaker as part of their limited Five-Two-3 collection.
Massimo Osti’s super-tech label deconstructs the iconic Samba sports shoe and really pushes the boundaries to defy convention using Stone Island’s famed and innovative use of fabric treatments and colour processing.
Using acid etching to cause colour corrosion on the upper components of the cotton satin fabric, a wash effect is created all over the sneaker bar and the three serrated stripes which are highlighted with stitch detailing.
To complete the intentionally unorthodox variant of the Samba an asymmetric zip fastening replaces the traditional thick lacing which opens onto a Stone Island badge, allowing the smoother outsole to focus on the main features.
Two colourways have been produced as part of the collection – the grey and black sneaker is available globally, with the blue and black colour combination being exclusive to Stone Island stores.
This has to be the ultimate collaboration within the celebrated Five-Two-3 collection, showcasing the diversity of both sports manufacturer Adidas and fashion pioneer Stone Island. This take on the Adidas Samba is out of the ordinary!
