For more than two decades, Sébastien Tellier has stood at the crossroads of sincerity and spectacle. Well, now he’s back with his latest album Kiss The Beast.
When La Ritournelle appeared in 2004, its seven hypnotic minutes of orchestral rhythm and longing didn’t fit any scene. It wasn’t quite electronic, nor rock, nor chanson, but something between a love spell and a dream. Two decades later, his performance of it at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games proved its strange permanence—a song that seems to hover outside time.
Across albums like Sexuality, L’Aventura, and Domesticated, Tellier has built a universe where humor, desire, and melancholy coexist. His songs wander through synths, strings, and irony, always returning to the question of what it means to feel human inside a machine-made world.
Fashion houses, of course, adore him for the same reason listeners do: he’s impossible to classify. Tellier’s blend of irony and emotion—of divine and ridiculous—has made him less a musician than a living aesthetic experiment.

The first single from the album, Refresh, was a disco ball of fun—glittering, buoyant, and knowingly playful. In Tellier’s words, “It’s a track about renewal, rebirth, failures, and the ceaseless cycle of starting over… always rolling the dice again, over and over.”
The latest release, Naïf de Cœur, drifts toward a more futuristic lounge sound—the kind of track you might play aboard a spaceship en route to another dimension. It’s sleek, seductive, and cool as a French cucumber.
