Thursday 15th December sees the launch of PONY’s sneaker collaboration with New York designers Dee & Ricky, at Paris’s best known fashion boutique, Colette.

If you like your sneakers off beat, bright and fancy free this is a new collaboration for you.

Dee & Ricky are the well known hyperactive New York fashion designer twins. It’s all ghetto brights from the in your face legocraft duo – after all who else would make a Chanel lipstick brooch from a red lego brick? Add to that, they are a vertiable gift for streetwise brands looking for some dudes to customise their wares!

For Pony, they start their brightening up exercise with the very street ‘Urban Jungle’ capsule collection. Featuring two styles, the Slamdunk Hi is an archive model re-worked for 2012. The style includes a Veltex (velcro) upper allowing you to customise the sneaker with Dee & Ricky signature letters and Chevrons (included in packaging). Our favourite is the NYC Topstar Lo made from leopard style suede with an orange PONY chevron and contrasting tan lining.

The collection fuses Dee & Ricky’s command of colour and fabrics for the fashion conscious. The vibrant style works really well with the classic styling of the chevron-adorned PONY sneaker, and we get a shoe for stepping out and catching the breeze.

On launch day, Colette will host an event with the design savvy brothers, offering you the chance to have your sneaker boxes signed by Dee & Ricky themselves between 17:30 – 18:30.

And what do Dee & Ricky have to say on their PONY designed sneakers? “For our branding identity we often incorporate white and black as the base, while primary colours are used as accents on hardware and trim. The natural calf leather is inspired by high-end luxury brands and the finer things in life.”
