Karl Lagerfeld on your wrist – new watch range with Fossil

A watch has to be something special to make it as far as the wrist these days with a smartphone in every pocket.

So a fashion statement is required, and who better to provide that than the master of icy avant garde cool, Karl Lagerfeld?

The much anticipated Karl Lagerfeld watch collection launched a couple of weeks ago as a collaboration with iconic watch brand Fossil. And the Karl style is written all over the collection from the black and white and silver colour scheme, to the zips and leather. The Karl ponytail silhouette is on the face of the ‘Karl Pop’ and the ‘Karl 7’ is named for the maestro’s magic number.

This is an extreme contemporary fashion collection from the Chanel Creative Director. Our personal favourite – and Karl’s apparently – is the ‘Karl Zip’. It’s more of a wrist cuff covered in a three by three grid of geometric pyramids joined by zips so you can alter the arrangement to make more or less of statement. Smoothly punk, it’s big, but the watch face is small taking up one of the slots in the grid.

Mr Lagerfeld says, ‘You cannot buy time but you can get a beautiful watch to measure time without spending a fortune.’ And he’s right of course.

You can view the collection and join in the Karl fun with a range of fun interactive games and puzzles at the watch website. With a timely sense of humour, you can play the Karl Kountdown game, sign up for Karlisms which sends you a new quote from Karl everyday, or try Klairvoyant where Karl will reveal your fashion fortune.

It all invites you in to the wonderful world of Mr Karl Lagerfeld; icy cool but engaging and vibrant at the same time. It’s the most desired but difficult to achieve combination, and of course the master pulls it off for you to buy into with this watch range. Just great.

Available at www.watchkarl.com and at Boutique Goldsmiths stores nationwide.
