Barbour International Store Launch in London’s Piccadilly

Measuring 3,000 sq/ft in size and over two floors, the new Barbour International store opened its doors just beside Piccadilly Circus.

Barbour is well known for its rural look and infamous waxed jackets, but the brand’s National Sales Director and Marketing Director talk enthusiastically about the older Barbour catalogues dating back to the early 20th century, which display clothing designed for the biking community.

So with this new Barbour London store, the brand are determinedly putting out the biker side of the Barbour double personality.

Throughout the brand’s history, riders such Steve McQueen have worn Barbour when racing in the trials as well as the British ‘International Six Day Trials’ (IDST) team for many years.

As the Barbour brand was set up in 1936 by Duncan Barbour, the third generation of the Barbour family and a keen motorcycle enthusiast himself, it seems almost natural for the brand (and their expansion plans for Germany, the UK and the US) to continue with the founder’s original passion.

Displayed amongst tarnished metal rails, chunky wooden shelving and exposed brickwork you will find jackets, knitwear, trousers and accessories for both men and women along with fully functioning motorcycling clothing with CE certified protectors. Images placed in and around the store feature models of today wearing the Barbour current season alongside vintage and grainy images of traditional riders wearing the clothes for their intended purposes of protecting you whilst upon your motorcycle. The Barbour store is a great reflection of the history of the brand and its enthusiasm for the world of British Motorcycling.

The Barbour International Store is open now at 211-241 Piccadilly, St James, London, W1J 9HL.
