Fireball Hits Portobello Square – InTRANSIT Festival with Edgar Mueller

Imagine, you’re doing a spot of shopping or heading to a bar and you suddenly find yourself over a great chasm staring down at a giant fireball. Well if you get yourself down to London’s Portobello Square you’ll be able to do just that. This is where brilliant street art really scores, away from the gallery, interacting with everyday life.

This spectacular piece by street artist Edgar Mueller was commissioned as part of the InTRANSIT Festival. Titled ‘Evolution’ the artwork will stay in place in Portobello Square until 31 July.

Members of the public are invited to place themselves in the fantastical illusion and become part of the piece. Edgar Mueller received world wide acclaim through his stunning street paintings and for capturing the process through time lapse videos that have now been viewed over 6 million times at www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SNYtd0Ayt0

The work is part of the InTRANSIT festival (13 – 27 July). The festival aims to move its audience physically as well as mentally by bringing the very best international and UK contemporary arts to streets, hidden spaces and parks of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea throughout the month of July.

Most events in inTRANSIT are free. For more information visit www.rbkc.gov.uk/intransit
