Cheap Monday and Teenage Engineering: For Micro Music Makers

Calling all wannabe music makers. Get a high-tech, portable synthesizer; create a spot of musical anarchy and team it with matching denim. What more could you want? To win the latest music maker right here read on!

The coolest of Swedish friends, modern denim brand, Cheap Monday, and electronics for music lovers makers, Teenage Engineering, have joined forces to create the Pocket Operator; a micro synthesiser that fits in your pocket.

The collaboration between Cheap Monday and Teenage Engineering was born in the autumn of 2013. When the Teenage Engineers needed new lab coats, instead of heading to the nearest wholesale outlet, their Creative Director, Jesper Kouthoofd, turned to his longtime friend Ann-Sofie Back, who just happened to be Creative Director of Cheap Monday.

So an inspired exchange was engineered right there. Unique lab gear in exchange for a line of portable musical sythesizers. Collaboration heaven for fans of both brands.

The ultimate outcome of the collaboration is the Pocket Operator, a micro synthesizer that fits into your jeans pocket. With premium sound, features and effects, it’s a new direction for the Scandinavian Jeans brand. And their contribution? A complimentary collection of t-shirts and jeans with graphics from the Pocket Operator.

“I think this can be the seed to a new movement, at least a new music genre. All thanks to the open minded team at Cheap Monday and Ann-Sofie Back”, says Jesper Kouthoofd, Founder and Creative Director at Teenage Engineering.

“It’s great to work with Jesper again, not to mention the rest of the amazing team at Teenage Engineering. In addition to being amazing products in their own right, the Pocket Operators are the perfect addition to the Cheap Monday assortment”, says Ann-Sofie Back, Creative Director at Cheap Monday.

The Pocket Operator comes in three models driven by AAA batteries – the RHYTHM (a drum machine), the SUB (a bass line driven synthesizer) and the FACTORY (a melody led synth), all with 16 step sequencer, 16 sounds and 16 effects with 3.5mm lines in and out! All three models come without casing so in an ultra stylish way, the components and artwork are visible on the printed circuit board.

Pocket Operator is available at the Cheap Monday Carnaby Street Store. Also at www.cheapmonday.com and www.teenageengineering.com (£49.00).

COMPETITION: If you fancy some Pocket Operator fun, we have two of the mini-synths with Cheap Monday T-shirts to give away to two lucky readers! CLICK HERE TO ENTER. Competition closes 24th September 2015.
