Traditional equestrian textile manufacturer, Lavenham, have put their horsey expertise into premium fashion for men and women. This season sees the launch of some high end quilted fashion wonders.
Founded in 1969, the Lavenham brand initially made their mark on the textiles industry by creating the first nylon quilted horse rug. The rug was thought to be a revolutionary feat in its time. Forty years on, Lavenham is still going strong, having moved onto premium country clothing for men and women, lead by their signature quilted riding jackets.
The iconic British brand is popular not only with country bumpkins, but with young urbanites as well! Their Autumn/Winter ‘11 collection offers a range of classic quilted fashion designs with a contemporary twist. The collection is all made from the finest British wools, British millerain wax and a high performance yarn dyed woven polyester.
Lavenham’s first ever ‘Luxury’ collection for this season is particularly impressive as the brand takes their heritage wear in a more sophisticated direction. The collection features everything you’d image you’d never see in quilted fashion from casual and formal jackets to accessories. Even hats and tote bags keep the quilting, but use more grown up knitted fabric in checks and tweeds. Shawl collared jackets, round neck cropped formal jackets and diamond quilted waistcoats are presented in subdued earthy colours. The styles keep the country casual, but add a more elegant feel. Stand out pieces include cosy duffle jackets, belted knit trench coat and wrap over skirts.
The Lavenham way has always been based around in-house, from the quilting to final inspection. The brand oversee every stage of production, ensuring fluency and consistency in design and delivery. Lavenham is proud of its traditional English designs and methods of manufacture, and source and use the best British materials, wherever possible, to make Lavenham products truly British and an easy “go to” for those Autumn/Winter essentials.
