Dust – A magical short film by Thanasis Tsimpinis inspired by Swans EP The Seer

Dust is an absorbing short film by Thanasis Tsimpinis inspired by four tracks from the Swans EP The Seer which it uses as its backdrop – the music stars as a strong force behind the imagery.

The film has the atmosphere of a dark fairy-tale centred on a troubled mother and daughter relationship. Is the daughter losing her mind or is she in the throes of demonic possession?

The themes that run through the film include obsession, paganism, (dead) nature and revenge. Thanasis and the team have been influenced by Scandinavian short films and music videos such as Syndromes – he found its geometric and desaturated frames fascinating and beguiling.

The film was a real labour of love, everyone going their time for free. The Athens based team struggled against the odds with very little budget for 2 months of preparation, 3 days of shooting and 4 months of post-production.  A like-minded talented group of people got together in true romantic style for the love of the idea.
