Suede return with the announcement of their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Antidepressants, set for release on September 5, 2025, through BMG. The album is now available for pre-order.
Leading the charge is the brand-new single “Disintegrate”, an urgent and powerful opening track. Released today following its premiere on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6Music show, the song arrives alongside a striking black-and-white video directed by Chris Turner (Favourite Colour: Black Productions). The visuals strip Suede’s performance to its raw core, glitching and distorting into something almost unrecognizable.
Introducing the album, frontman Brett Anderson explains:
“If Autofiction was our punk record, then Antidepressants is our post-punk record. It speaks to the tension of modern life—paranoia, anxiety, neurosis. In a world full of disconnection, we’re all still desperate to connect. That’s the spirit I wanted to capture. Antidepressants is broken music for broken people.”
The album was recorded live with longtime producer Ed Buller, who first collaborated with Suede on their debut single The Drowners in 1992. More than three decades into their career, the band feels as creatively energized as ever. “Being in this band is still genuinely exciting,” says Anderson. “We’re still pushing boundaries.” Bassist Mat Osman adds, “This is a widescreen, ambitious record. It belongs on a big stage—it’s a step up.”
Antidepressants was recorded across multiple iconic studios, including ICP Studios in Belgium, RAK and Sleeper Sounds in London, and RMV in Sweden.
In addition to reflecting the electric atmosphere of their recent live shows, the album marks a deeply personal chapter for Anderson, showcasing some of his most introspective songwriting to date. Opening single “Disintegrate” stands as a dark anthem of acceptance, transforming the fear of mortality into a twisted celebration—perfectly embodying the record’s emotional duality.
A live performance video of the title track, filmed at Alexandra Palace in summer 2024 and directed by drummer Simon Gilbert, was released last week to an enthusiastic response from fans.
To celebrate the release, Suede will present Suede Takeover—a four-night residency across London’s Southbank Centre this September. The band returns to the venue for the first time since their performance at David Bowie’s Meltdown in 2002. Each show promises something unique, redefining the traditional rock gig.
Anderson teases:
“Expect old songs, new songs, borrowed songs, blue songs—drama, melody, noise, sweat, and a few surprises.”
