The G in the G-Shock G-Sessions Final may stand for Gravity, but for the creatives involved in this collaborative adventure it’s been a stellar journey in multidisciplinary design.

Teams of young creative from six cities – Milan, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, St. Petersburg and London – were given the task to compete for the chance to get their G-SHOCK watch design into production. So its all about the tech and fashion watches womens and mens! And the brief included coming up with the packaging and marketing and the g shock watch bands– so they literally had free rein to come up with anything from a song to artwork to a video clip to live installations.

The team from each city was headed up by a local creative ambassador to act as a curator and director of the project. In Berlin, the project saw designer Patrick Mohr select with Thomas Hanisch who had just finished his degree at the international fashion school ESMOD for his extraordinary ideas and creative approach. The Amsterdam team of sneaker creators, architects and designers was headed by the founders of dandy fashion Label Ontfront. London’s Ghostpoet worked with ambassador Lee Hempstock, a conceptual creative working for brands like adidas and Sony. The Parisian team featued Kirikoo Des – an artist working in dance, music and digital art, whilst the St Petersburg team was led by Nikita Vilkin Yarutskiy, one of Russia’s top action sports photographers. And finally the Barcelona team was headed by Johann Wald, a graduate in Cinema and Dramatic Arts and now an MTV presenter amongst other things.

The range of talent on display is immense, and we couldn’t wait to take a look at the magnificent contributions that this diverse group have come up with. The winner will be announced with the presentation of G-SHOCK’s Spirit of Toughness Award in Berlin on November 28th. The award event will celebrate 30 years of the rugged watch maker, and will be attended by Kikuo Ibe, the iconic inventor of G-SHOCK who will be congratulating the victors. The party promises live music from Hip Hop DJs Eskeji 83 and Stylewarz with renowned label owner, Staiger, taking the mic as MC for the night.

Prior to that, you get to have your say in the public vote that’s taking place over at g-sessions.eu. The winner will be the team polling the most votes in the Spirit of Toughness poll, so take a look. Plus all voters have the chance to win a trip to Berlin!

Voting is now closed.
