L’Eau D’Issey – Voyage to the Heart of a Lagoon

Issey Miyake is of course one of the trailblazers of Japanese minimalist fashion. And as a rule, the L’Eau d’Issey fragrances reflect that monochrome creativity in their silver, white and black. But the 2011 summer limited edition fragrances take on a light, more joyous exterior – this year we are told they are, “At the heart of a lagoon, the turquoise water of the sea reveals with clarity the beauty at the bottom of the ocean.”

The turquoise packaging is adorned with branches of sparkling coral, as are the clear glass bottles – for both L’Eau d’Issey and L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme – still on-brand Issey, with the block colour; crystal-luminous-blue contrasts against the graphic red.

We think these are wonderful, intriguing options for summer. Really wearable with an edgy Japanese twist!

The female L’Eau d’Issey summer fragrance is a sparkling, delicious floral scent with rose and peony, with woody bottom notes giving some depth to the summer tones. Whilst L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme is an energetic accompaniment with the citrus of Yuzu and Mandarin, mingling with spicy Cardamom and aromatic Sage, with a base of Vetiver and Ambergris.
