If trainers were superheroes, this new limited edition range by Ellesse would be the ultimate fashion superhero gang. This autumn the eighties trainer brand has teamed up with five of the ultimate European fashion retailers to create the Ellesse Fab Five and bring a new look to their classic styles. Offering a different style to each collaborator, the results really are a Fabulous Five for the sports fashion elite to fight over with only 150 pairs of each available.
First up in the Ellesse Fab Five was Sweden’s Sneakerstuff, renegotiating the Ellesse Poli in their signature vivid red selected for the red of Swedish summer houses. Harvey Nichols took on the Marathan 84 with the HN design team revisiting the shoe’s original grey and white on leather and nylon with a splash of orange. Colette chose the Assist 1 puffy basketball high top – a perfect match colour blocked in electric blue with polka dot laces.
And yet to be launched are the Barcelona’s 24 Kilates who have put a marine influence all over the Ellesse 117, taking their cue from a friend about to embark on a yachting race – so we have a waterproof shoe here. And last up will be Grand Boutique from Zurich, whose mountainous locale has resulted in a Levanto shoe that pays homage to the Swiss hiking tradition with its D-rings and ski hook fastenings.
Each shoe comes with a special gift that reflects the shoes influences, so we have a paint brush with the Sneakerstuff shoe, a lomo camera with Harvey Nichols’ Marathon 84, a blocked blue basketball for Colette, a yachting cap for the Barcelona 117 and finally some hiking socks with Grand Boutique’s Levanto.
So get queuing – or surfing to secure your favourite of Ellesse’s Fabulous Fashion Five. One thing is for sure – they won’t be hanging around for long!
