How to buy the perfect pair of boots – article by Alexa Wang

I’m sure we’ve all owned a well-loved pair of boots. So much so that’s it’s sometimes hard to let them go. People often store then at the bottom of the wardrobe, a well distressed pair of boots looking beyond repair where the owner just isn’t ready yet to say goodbye to them.

Whether it’s a pair of Dr Martens or some classic black ankle boots they seem to become part of us like most shoes never do. I had a pair of Burberry black boots a few years back that looked quite classic in shape but they felt so good on my feet and the leather was so supple.

I had them re-soled so many times and they lasted for many years. The aged well but eventually the time came – I hid them in the wardrobe for years until it as time to move house and then the moment of truth. They were reluctantly assigned to the bin but it was quite an emotional thing.

Buying the right pair of boots for yourself is so important. A good pair of boots can last you for many years and help define your look so it’s important to get it right. Jones Bootmakers have put together this infographic on how to buy the perfect pair of boots that leads you through the history and styles of boots over the decades as well as the trends that are current today.
