Chanel have tapped into this rich stream of longing we all have with their latest make up collection. Their Chanel makeup Fall 2011 collection ‘Illusions D’Ombres’ invites us into an enchanted world of precious materials.
The collection is inspired by the intimate surroundings of the workshops of the Parisian Artistic Creation Houses. These rare artisans seeped in history are built upon dreams but tempered by tradition. The colours, the smells, the hidden treasures, a half open drawer, an embroidery sample, a shimmering blast of colour hidden beneath a dusty workbench. These houses of luxury have always been supported by Chanel from the early days. Lesage, Lemarié, Massaro, Goossens, Michel, Guillet, Desrues have all been part of the Chanel story.
The eye shadow lies at the heart of the latest collection and aims to bring the richness of precious metals to frame your eyes. Rich, intangible colours are the luxurious pallet. Thanks to its translucent silicone-based formula, Illusion d’Ombre brings out the authenticity of pure pigments and thereby accentuates the intensity of colours and their iridescent reflections. The eyeshadows come in six shades: FANTASME: an iridescent white, MIRIFIQUE: every nuance of black, ÉMERVEILLÉ: a tender peach, ÉBLOUI: a brown smouldering with red, ILLUSOIRE: a grey-tinged taupe, ÉPATANT: a grey-shadowed khaki.
Lips of course need to work along with the enigmatic eyes. Lipsticks for this season include PLUMETIS: an innocent peach tone and ÉTOLE: luminous coppery rosewood that matches the lip pencil. Nails are treated in the same way adding up to a whole collection of jewels that places mystery at the heart of luxury.
