New PUMA Shadow Society GTX States

If you’re a sneakerhead you’ll no doubt go all dewy eyed at the news of this new PUMA release. The secretive organisation otherwise known as The PUMA Shadow Society have announced that the third and final drop of their series will be the classic GTX States.

This now classic suede sneak has been reinvented and revived for a new era with the new PUMA GTX States. A Goretex tab secured onto the side of the tongue badge highlights this brilliant winterised twist on the iconic suede sneaker. The PUMA Shadow Society is a tight knit, diverse group of characters drawn from all over the world. Taste makers and PUMA afficionados alike, the Shadow Society are authorities in the sneaker game and, through this project, have set out to redefine the meaning of sneaker ‘co-lab’. The PUMA Shadow Society were given creative control; dictating the colours, materials and degrees of branding throughout the pack.

Given its history ‘The State’ was the ideal candidate and silhouette to receive the Shadow Society treatment. Adored around the world back in the 80s but so sweetly UK specific, the PUMA Suede become the ‘it’ shoe on the hip hop scene in New York City. As the music moved across the pond, the style did too. Over here in dear old Blighty it was aptly re-christened ‘The State’ after its birthplace, the shoe was adopted by both UK trainer connoisseurs and football fans on the terraces.

The reissue pays painstaking attention to detail and premium execution. The colourways are spot on, the accuracy uncanny and the 40 plus years of international sneaker heritage unmistakable. So what happens now to the Shadow Society themselves – are they to be disbanded? I’m missing them already.

The last of the three Puma Shadow Society drops sees sizes starting in a UK6 and is available in select sneaker boutiques in a town near you.
